Who are we?

Cyber-Physical Systems Security Institute (CPSSI) is an independent, nonpartisan, by-invitation-only membership organization and think tank dedicated to being a resource for its members, government officials, business executives, journalists, educators and students, and other interested citizens in order to help them better understand the cyber space and the threat of cyber-kinetic attacks facing the world. CPSSI works with these groups to develop advice and recommendation on good practices in cyber-physical systems security.

CPSSI works in a an inter- and transdisciplinary way bringing together expertise across disciplines that traditionally don’t collaborate but should be.

CPSSI work includes reviewing and advising on legislations related to protection of critical infrastructure and it does so from the perspective of protecting lives and well-being of all people independently of the country of origin. CPSSI takes no institutional positions on matters of policy and has no affiliation with any government.

What do we do?

CPSSI’s main activities are:

  • maintaining a diverse membership, including special programs to promote interest and develop expertise in the next generation of Cyber-Physical Systems Security and/or Cyber-Kinetic Security leaders;
  • convening meetings globally to discuss and debate major Cyber-Physical Systems Security issues and issues related to Cyber-Kinetic attacks;
  • supporting a Studies Program that fosters independent research, enabling CPSSI scholars to produce articles, op-eds, reports, and books and hold roundtables that analyze Cyber-Physical Systems Security issues and make concrete recommendations;
  • sponsoring Independent Task Forces that produce reports with both findings and policy prescriptions on the most important Cyber-Physical Systems Security topics; and
  • providing up-to-date information and analysis about relevant topics on its website.

CyPhyCon | Cyber-Physical Systems Security Conference

CyPhyCon | Cyber-Physical Systems Security Conference is an annual event exploring threats and solutions to cyber-kinetic attacks – cyber attacks on cyber-physical systems such as industrial control systems (ICS), Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), connected and autonomous transportation, robotics, drones, etc. that could cause real-life adverse impacts to lives, well-being and the environment.

The conference aims to bring together researchers, practitioners and policy makers from information technology; cybersecurity; telecommunications; automation engineering; mechatronic engineering; control systems engineering; environment, health and safety; and emergency and crisis response – disciplines that don’t often work together. But should be.

CyPhyCon will be held in Toronto, Canada and will be open to the general public.
